Dennis McCurdy's Find A Way
Get What You Want, Get What You Deserve.

Action Plus

Why am I writing about taking action again? It seems that it has been on my mind a lot lately.

When I started my real estate business back in 1981, it was for two purposes. It wasn't about selling houses. The reasons were #1 to make contacts with new people moving into the area who would need insurance. And # 2 (the most important) to find properties I could buy, flip, or hold for long-term investment purposes. The selling of the houses or real estate was a way to make a living. The owning of the real state was a way to become wealthy.

So what is the lesson? The lesson is back in 1980's I bought a lot of real estate and made lots of money buying it, selling it, buying and owning. But somewhere along the line I stopped doing it. Stopped doing what I knew how to do well, had a great deal of experience doing and had been successful doing. Yet I stopped, and if you asked me today why I stopped...I'm not sure what to give you for an answer. If you asked me today do I wish I had continued, I would answer with a resounding yes!

Being successful isn't that hard, trust me it isn't hard to be successful. Yes it does take some work, some time, some energy, and occasionally some pain (which most people will try to avoid). Not the kind of pain you get if someone is sticking you with a fork, but aggravation and occasional emotional pain, maybe a little fear mixed in too.

Hey...you're going to get some of that in life anyway; it may as well be in pursuit of your goals, and your dreams. At the very least you should keep stepping up to the plate, and I keep swinging until THE BIG GUY calls you OUT.

The lesson is:

Take action
Take more action
Have goals
Find A Way stay on track, to remind you of what you can do and DO IT. Take small steps if you like but take them, or huge steps it's up to you. Just step!

Oh and don't give me any of that nambe pambe stuff about being too busy. I am busy too and I know I can do more.

So let me give you the final quotation with which I end my book Find A Way. This quotation is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

"Most people never run far enough on their first wind to find out they've got a second. Give your dreams all you've got and you'll be amazed at the energy that comes out of you!" - William James (1842 - 1910)
