Stop Screwing Yourself and Get The Life You Want

Someday

As is usual with me, I have lots of ideas about what to write on for the weekly thought. I start writing on a topic, but then I read something new, or recall something I've read before, or hear something is entirely different from my initial topic. This weekly is an example of my process.

I had coffee yesterday with a very dear friend, Frank Herberg. He's been a friend, a coach, and a mentor to me for over 20 years. He's one of those coaches who doesn't give you the answer; he makes you work for it. But that's not the point of the story. Frank reminded me of what his friend and colleague, Roger, had said to him. He told Frank, "Someday is not a day of the week."

Most of us have things, dreams or goals we want to accomplish...someday. And if you're like most people, someday never comes and that "thing" you've been meaning to do, or your dreams and goals are never attained. If there's something you been putting off, yet truly do want to do, now is a good time to start. Here are a couple of Chinese proverbs to kind in mind:

  • "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the next best time is today."
  •
  • "It does not matter how slow you go, it matters only if you stop."

Print this e-mail and...

  • Write something down you want to accomplish today, and do it!
  • Write something down you want to do over the next week, and do it!Write something down you will accomplish by the end of the year!

Do it now! And do it before you do anything else.

Keep this e-mail with your goals on your desk. Keep a copy in your car. Wedge it in the corner of your mirror at home. Keep focused and start.

"The secret to getting ahead is getting started; the secret to getting started is to break your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then beginning on the first one." ~ Mark Twain

Don't wait for someday because it will never come. Make someday today.

Find A Way
